#10Moon River Brewing Company

Reported legend

The brewpub occupied the former City Hotel, built in 1821, where staff named a basement ghost Toby who moved through the shadows, shoved workers and threw bottles; locals say hundreds of people, mostly children, died on the upper floors during the yellow fever years while the basement served as a makeshift morgue.

#817Hundred90 Inn and Restaurant

Reported legend

Savannah's oldest inn. Legend says Anna, a young woman in an arranged marriage, fell in love with a sailor and fell or leapt from an upstairs window when his ship left; her spirit is tied to room two oh four, a boy named Thaddeus leaves pennies on the tavern tables, and an unfriendly kitchen spirit throws pots and spice jars.

#5Olde Pink House

Reported legend

Local legend says James Habersham Jr., who built the house, still keeps it tidy: a pin-neat colonial gentleman who straightens tables and lights candles from October to March. The darker story says he hanged himself in the basement over his wife's affair, though the source itself warns there is no historical evidence and records say he died of declining health.

#1Marshall House

Reported legend

The hotel served as a hospital for Union soldiers under Sherman in eighteen sixty-four and again during yellow fever epidemics, and legend says the spirits of the sick and wounded never left: children run the halls, faucets turn on by themselves, and an amputee soldier is seen in the lobby looking for a surgeon.
